Some people think learning a foreign language at school should be compulsory. To what extent do you agree with it? Use your experience or examples to support your viewpoint.
Language is a way to communicate with each other. I believe language is one thing that makes humans different than animals, and all the achievements of humankind can be due to language. In this essay, I am going to give some of the points on the side of making learning a foreign language compulsory at school.
Children are the future of the nation. They started from the pond and here the pond refers to the family. Now, they are in a lake which is a school and if they learn to swim properly, they will reach the sea. What I mean to say is, learning a new language opens up new horizons. They will understand foreign people. In this globalized world, that is one of the superpowers.Secondly, it helps them to understand new things. Think about how many new books they can read. For example, for me, English is a foreign language. If I was just using my mother tongue, I would be limited to the number of books that I could read. Finally, children's minds are flexible and can grab things quickly. That means it is better to let them learn a foreign language early in their life. They will understand faster, which will help them in their life in the future. In conclusion, considering all these things, I am in favour of the foreign language at school being compulsory.
