 Historic buildings are our heritage and show our culture. Nowadays, more and more countries are spending large amounts of money on the restoration of historic buildings instead of on modern housing. I totally agree with this analysis and in this essay we are going to explore the advantages and disadvantages of it.

Firstly, historic buildings are a representation of our ancestors and represent our roots. There is no example of prosperity without firm roots, which we can see in multiple civilizations throughout history.

Secondly, these are tourist attracting monuments, and can give an economic boom for the country. Restoration of historic buildings will help to keep this tourist flowing to the country, which can be beneficial for the whole country.

On the other hand, if you just invest money in old buildings, you will miss out on modern development. If your resources are spent on the past, there might be very little future. Furthermore, if an area is covered with old buildings, there is also a chance of disaster like we saw in countries like Nepal where during the earthquake all the old buildings collapsed.

In conclusion, the world hangs in balance of historical importance and modern approach. So, those societies who understand and apply the balanced approach will prosper in future.
