Nowadays, there are many television advertisements aimed at children. Should television advertisement be controlled or not? What is your opinion?
Advertisements are a display of products in different media to promote it and generate a desire in the public to buy them. Nowadays, there are many television advertisements aimed at children, which is very unethical. In this essay we are going to explore whether this is a good thing or not and in the end I will express my views.
Firstly, advertisements focusing on children are a very big problem for parents because they are forced to buy those products. It is very hard for them to deny their children, which is completely understandable. In this way, parents will have very high financial burdens. So, parents need to be educated on how to handle their kids' demands and skillfully handle them.
Secondly, excessive exposure to advertisements can lead to materialistic values. Children, bombarded with ads for the latest toys, gadgets, and fashion, may develop unrealistic expectations and a constant desire for material possessions. This can strain family finances and create a sense of dissatisfaction among children who cannot have everything they see on TV.
On the other hand, companies need to sell their product and also give a comprehensive description of the product. So, that the parents will be able to make a good assessment, which is often the hardest part with all the products claiming themselves as the best. Further, if we look at the advertiser prospective with a good product, which needs a good boost to give parents an idea about what they are buying.
In conclusion, I totally agree that advertisements that are targeting children should be properly controlled and should have ethical backing. However, parents need to understand their responsibility and forget about instant relief from children.
